Where are the best places to have meetings? Places that are sort of professional but let you linger and chat and it's no too weird to pull out an iPad or laptop to show someone something you are doing?
I've always thought the tea house upstairs at the Chinese Garden would be excellent. Colleges have many casual spots, UO downtown, for instance. There are some casual spaces in the Ecotrust Building.
Mikey, my fantasy is that when we meet a black car will pull up to me on the curb. The driver, in a black cap with a shiny leather brim, will step smartly around the car to open the rear passenger door. From the darkness, in a cloud of smoke, you will lean forward to growl, "I need to talk to you. Get in."
Library at the Heathman is a good call. It might be a little quiet, but the library at the Art Museum is pretty cool. Barista on Alberta has class and space. Upstairs at Clyde Commons before the crush. The lobby of any hotel, the Nines has space. The Behind the Museum Cafe is a chill Japanese spot. Maybe not perfect for business, but the Lizard Lounge has a lounge spot as does PICA with its library lounge.
LT is correct, much of the action in the film Cosmopolis is meetings in the back of a limo.
The Idealist has a nice balcony overlooking the Waterfront Park. Bet some hotels have rooftop decks. Seems I heard of some downtown office buildings that had rooftop decks open to the public, maybe the Federal Courthouse? The Indigo has a very classy penthouse party space, might be on an intermediate floor, not top. Likewise many of those condo buildings probably. We could use our rooftops for more!

Dr J isn't there a Cronenberg film on that theme?
I feel like having a meeting on the top roof of a parking structure would be amazing.
Maybe, fuck it, Departure?
