I really think any burly long hiking trail in the gorge in national forest allows dogs to be off leash.

You are not finding explicit detail about good long hikes with off leash because its not an issue.

Find a hike, take the dog.

Hey YT: the hike that Matt and I braved a week ago was a great dog hike (if you don't mind your dog getting covered in poop/mud/water/ticks). Matt now wants to hike the whole 40 mile rail bed. Maybe we could convince him to do it in sections, taking snoopies and owls along (and flossies, too).
