edited December 2011
can anyone recommend a good and cheap place or person who cuts/creates mat boards for 'fine-art' photographs?

i am aware of Framing Resources, and they are great, but also very expensive.

  • If you are in town, I've Been Framed on Foster (right where it is birthed out of Powell, at the intersection of SE 50th) has reasonable prices for custom mats, they also keep a wide variety of standard size mats in stock.
  • Yeah, I've used them too. There's a second location at SE 28th & Ash.

  • maybe the greatest photo...
    it is really good!

deserves a VERY fine framing job, and a fancy frame
  • I've Been Framed is my new jam, though I don't even have my first piece back yet.

So nice! So chill! So easy.

I used to get mattes cut at Art Media, which was actually pretty affordable.
  • Just stopped by Quick Stop Photo to drop off bxw negs to get scanned....THEY ARE CLOSING FOREVER ON DEC 31st!

    I am bereft.

I have been going there for my color photo stuff for OVER A DECADE. They are so nice! They do matte paper, also bordered prints! They would do a straight 10% off my work for the Girls Rock Camp because they are awesome like that. I am so so sad! Also NOW WHERE WILL I GET MY COLOR FILM DEVELOPED???? Such a bummer.

It's like I am holding my broken buggy whip in front of the buggy whip store going "NOOOOOOOOOO!"
  • bummer to hear about QSP

i will suggest DigiCraft (formerly U-Develop) for negative scanning. not sure though about negative developing.

i did end up at Ive Been Framed- seem like nice folks there.
  • andy always goes to Citizen's Photo
