Most livable city in the USA, on the cutting edge for smart urban growth, a model mass transportation system: all these accolades apply to Portland, Oregon. But critics often deride Portland's heavy-handed bureaucracy and sky-rocketing housing costs as an example of good intentions gone wrong. So, which is it? A group of Portland State University faculty have tackled the issue with The Portland Edge: Challenges and Successes in Growing Communities.
