Conduit Dance is pleased to present eight new works by gifted local dance makers working in collaboration with some of Portland’s very best music makers and performance and fine artists. The DANCE+ series is dedicated to presenting innovative, exploratory and hybrid works by local and regionally based dance artists. DANCE+ is a one-of-a-kind curated performance series that promotes and nurtures the boldest home grown dance talent. Ranging from multi-sensory performance artists and drag to poetic explorations of the sea and our sense of place and featuring dazzling soundscapes, projected images and dramatic dance environments, DANCE + will be a feast for the senses.

This dance-packed festival will take place over two weeks with a different program performed Thursday through Saturday each week, July 19-22 and July 26-29. DANCE+ is Portland’s first curated festival devoted entirely to local and regional artists. The festival seeks to facilitate new forms of collaboration between dance makers and artists, writers and musicians drawn from Portland’s electric arts scene. Artists and projects were selected earlier this year by a panel of national and regional artists and arts administrators. DANCE+ is a milestone in Conduit’s seventeen-year history of making contemporary dance happen in Portland.

All six performances will take place at Conduit’s intimate studio theater on the 4th floor of the historic Pythian Building in downtown Portland. Each of the DANCE+ groups receives an honorarium of $600-$800 for works ranging from 15-30 minutes.

DANCE+ artists will also be featured in a special Dance Uncovered artist forum on Sunday July 15th where a panel of artists from three selected DANCE+ series projects will show excerpts and discuss their collaborative and creative processes.
