YU’S FIRST PREVIEW PROJECT
Robert Rauschenberg, Agnes Martin, Chuck Close, John Cage,
Ed Ruscha, Trisha Brown, Sol LeWitt, Christo, and
nearly 200 other contemporary artists came
to Portland in the 1970s and 80s.

The small but energetic group of artists, administrators, and patrons
who brought them here created one of the most seminal and innovative
contemporary art organizations in US history. . .

Celebrate YU’s inaugural preview project, as we present the first-ever exhibition of the PCVA Archive while simultaneously introducing the Library at YU and launching our first publication, Veneer Magazine 08/18. The evening will include a special screening of Richard Serra’s Railroad Turnbridge, 1976, a PCVA project filmed at the St. Johns Bridge.

YU’s first exhibition considers the risks and triumphs of the Portland Center for the Visual Arts (PCVA) and remembers a particularly vibrant and important moment in the history of contemporary art in the Northwest. Join YU in honoring the legacy of this exceptional institution.

YU LIBRARY AND FIRST PUBLICATION, VENEER MAGAZINE 08/18
The first iteration of the YU library and Veneer Magazine 08/18 highlight the way in which the written word and, broadly, two-and-three dimensional documentation in collected form (a book, a library) will be important extensions of the dialogue at YU, while being initiatives in their own right.
