Thanks for putting me on the list. I should remark that after TIMESCAPE, your entries are 4 of a 6-volume series that starts with IN THE OCEAN OF NIGHT & then ACROSS THE SEA OF SUNS. A big project, to read all those!Maybe easier to read the one-word sf titles I wrote that are mostly about how scientists think: TIMESCAPE, ARTIFACT, COSM, EATER,CHILLER.What a list!

Hey, there is also a book filled with short stories and novellas that the nebula award people did a while back to kind of give credit to books that were around before the nebulas. Robert silverberg edited it, its called “Masters of Science fiction”, I think. Also, I have these all (or most of them) in a big file on my computer. Email me if you want me to send you a link.

i feel like gibson is kind of overrepresented on that list.also, i know this screws with the plan but you should add “a voyage to arcturus” to the list, and read it soon (if you haven’t already?). it involves traveling to another planet but may not necessarily be science fiction for any other reason. then again ‘lord of the rings’ is on the list so anything goes, i guess.according to wikipedia, “a voyage to arcturus” has been described by at least one person (colin wilson, british existentialist and author of the novel “the space vampires”) as “the greatest novel of the 20th century.”also can i borrow “the foundation trilogy” after you read it, or are you going to the library? i can never find a used copy of the first book.i’m glad you’re actually doing thisalso i don’t know if this is breaking some kind of privacy rule but the words that I have to type in in order to post this comment are “expelled President” which is kind of awesome.

Your project sounds delightful. I thought you should know that there is now, in fact, a "bricks-and-mortar" institution where one can do this sort of thing, a new interdisciplinary program at UC-Davis: http://technoculture.ucdavis.edu/THE PROGRAM IN TECHNOCULTURAL STUDIES (TCS)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Maybe they will support your research.

hey!i haven’t talked to you in forever. literally, years. i hope all is well!i just wanted to say that this is a pretty awesome project.are you going to reread the books you have already read? or are you going to go through it all again? is there an order you going to follow, such as alphabetical? or is whatever you can get your hands on first at the library?i’m sorry i’m so curious, i think it is very interesting and exciting (even the whole methodology of the project).i can’t wait to read your posts! good luck and take care!meg :)
