On The Road Again

| | Comments (5)

Two weeks and $550 dollars later I am no longer confined to the world of tri-met--the Jetta is back. It was actually kind of nice riding the MAX around, as it gave me plenty of time to catch up on some issues of The New Yorker and this great new book that Marisa got me: The Tipping Point.

I had a pretty decent service experience with the folks at the Hawthorne Auto Clinic. Apparently they are rated real high on environmental concern lists, but then again, they're on Hawthorne so what would you expect?

For its first ride after a long break I treated my car to a wash and a Target run. At Target I exchanged some DS videogames for Resident Evil 4--which I am excited about getting into after seeing Cabel jump and scream a lot at all those disgruntled European villagers.

Today I also added some content and spiced up my latest group blog:
Cinema Scope.

I leave you with yet another photo of Elmer, this time she climbed up on her cave!

ahhh, my beloved hawthorne. even our auto mechanics are hippies!

(although it's kind of co-opted now by the trendy-third/pearl lofts set. that's why we hang out on division sometimes. keep it real, y'know.)

Seriously - how good is The Tipping Point?! If there was a Greatest Books of All Time blog, that might be my first entry. I'm a few chapters into his new one - too early to tell if it matches the sheer awesomeness of the Tipping Point.

I don't know how I wound up here at your site but it may be kismet. I also recently got into a fender bender and as a result had to navigate the CTA. (I'm a recent transplant to Chicago by way of Portland...)While making the hour and fifteen minute train trip between work/home each day, for the first week of the ordeal I kept myself company with The Tipping Point. It makes for great reading on public transit. So much so that on several occasions I came dangerously close to accosting a neighbor just to declare its sheer interesting-ness. Now I am about 3/4 way through Blink but I'm getting my Subie back tomorrow. I will still ride the CTA - but what will I read when I'm done with Blink?
