Virgin Mobile kicked me in the ass on my way out the door

| | Comments (5)

I've always been really happy with Virgin Mobile's cool pre-paid cell service, but check this out: if you transfer your number (like I did, so I could switch to iPhone), they steal the money left on the account! You can't transfer it to anyone or get it refunded or anything.

WTF! I could have at least made expensive international calls to burn up the remaining balance, had I known.

Bad form, guys. Show some respect for your customers' dollars.

oh they're respecting it all right. they're respecting the fact that it's in their WALLET.

I think this applies to all prepaid providers. What I used to tell people is "it's not a bank account. You bought nonrefundable minutes, you have to use them or lose them."

They should have told you about the losing of them before shutting down your account, but most of the people in those call centers are mentally deficient.

Yeah, if it represented them as "minutes" I might have felt differently about it. It represented them as "dollars" because my monthly comes out it, as well as the charges for my minutes. They wouldn't even let me transfer my balance to Jessica's account.

You don't even have to close the account for them to take your "minutes" away. On a prepaid plan you have to "use" the minute with in six month and if you don't, they get forfeited and they will close your account without notice. The only way to prevent this is to add minutes before the ones you have already purchased expire. The whole cell phone business is a racket, the the entire industry should be put under some type of regulation. The problem is that under the grand "leadership" of W and the republicans congress, almost all regulation concerning business have be repealed. The only thing I can say good about the cell phone industry is they aren't as bad as the credit card industry which robs you and does even have the decency to wear a mask

i kick your ass out the door.
