A revolution in txt technology
Mikey and I have have pushed the free dodgeball service on the unsuspecting and occasionally unwilling many a time. It's essentially a party enabler. You send a text message from your cell phone, and it transmits the location of the bar you're at to your friends' cell phones. They join you. You drink.
But that's all it could do. It was entirely based around locations, and you had to be a member of dodgeball through their web site.
Now, with Dodgeball Chat, a new model exists. Dodgeball chat allows the creation of chat rooms, which any cell phone user can join, sending to the group and receiving the group's messages.
ANYONE can join a chat. I've created one for PICA's upcoming TBA Festival (blog). Send "join tba" from your cell phone to chat@dodgeball.com to get in on the fun. Then send your words to chat@dodgeball.com, and all TBA chatters will benefit from your wisdom.
TBA will be a great test for this service, and I look forward to seeing what else we can think of to use it for.
