They are taking measures to protect the U.S. food supply, including security at grain elevators and processing plants and what not. But this caught my attention:
"There will be greater inspection of imported food," Ridge told reporters.
I wonder if this is going to cut off my illegally-imported raw-milk French cheese supply? The terrorists have already won!
Long story short, I bought a factory-refurbished iBook, and it didn't work right. No matter what I named my hard drive, it renamed itself to "/" when I logged out or restarted. Not the end of the world, but not ok. Installing Norton Utilities rendered the machine unbootable. It turns out it had been formatted with UFS. "Unless you have a specific reason to use UFS, you should use the Mac OS Extended format since it provides a more familiar experience to Macintosh users." Thanks, Apple. Now that I've reformatted and reinstalled the OS, it seems to be running okay.
I'm writing this in the hopes that, if this happens to other people, they can find this article, and have an easier time of it than I did.
