Work vs. Booze.

| | Comments (0)

I'm trying to convince myself to leave my warm home, go out in
the mean world, and work some overtime at CyberRep.coM. It's
not easy.

Pros / cons: The only pro is money. Obviously. The other not-exactly-pro, but at least mitigating factor, is the fact that Jessica
is out of town this weekend. So what the hell else am I doing
with my time. Honestly, the alternative to going into work is sitting
at home and watching the NBA. Fun, yes, but so what.
Con-wise, you got the fact that work is lame and I deserve a
damn weekend.

Then I came up with the concept of rewarding myself. Josh, you
go into work today, you make fifty bucks or so, get yourself a
reward. Booze seems like a good reward for working overtime.
Booze is liquified anti-work. So I tell myself, work overtime today,
buy yourself a bottle of Bushmill's and a twelve-pack. (BTW, this
argument worked; I'm leaving after I write this post.)

But I'll take the idea further. What if I only buy booze out of OT
pay? That is, if I don't work OT, I don't buy booze. I can spend OT
pay on other things, too, of course. It's not like I want to spend
every dollar of OT on booze. That would be fucked.

Now I guess I have to keep a detailed ledger of OT pay and
booze expenses.

1/26/02 4 hr OT $49.50
1/26/02 750 mL Bushmills -23.95
1/27/02 12-pk Mirror Pond -12.99
subtotal 12.56

That kind of thing.

Off to work...
