IKEA is Coming... Soon!

Yeah dude, I saw that on my way to the airport a few weeks ago and I was like "Hunh? This is where they're putting it?" because before that I didn't really know what the plan was.
Pretty conveinient for me. Looks like I'll be eating a lot of meatballs!

P.S. On a clear day, it's really easy to get a shot of the sign with Mt. Hood in the background. No doubt they'll exploit that for their ads.

What happens to the wildlife, dudes? I hope you believe it's worth it? Sorry, to sour your sweet cravings or burst your bubble. Migratory birds today, IKEA tomorrow.

That area has been waiting for development for years. This isn't some last minute "Let's put a store here" plan.
Also, now isn't the most constructive time to be asking that question.

well, maybe it's time for an "urban ecology" blog?

I don't think there's ever a bad time to ask questions about enviromental impact.

Good point Kevin. Sorry for my harsh comment Jen.
I love a green space, and I think it's part of what makes Portland, as well as Oregon, a great place. It would be interesting to see if IKEA has plans to be aware of it's environmental impact. Just building next to the MAX is a huge plus, as it can reduce the number of cars (IKEA has BIG! parking lots).

Not to mention the sustainable measures that IKEA puts in place as part of its normal business operations. Probably one of the best businesses in the world.
(its Swedish, remember!)
