Walking Is Best In Portland

Portland Bizjournal reports "Portland is the best city in the United States for walking, according to Prevention magazine". The study is, according to the APMA site, "based on results from APMA's independent study of the 100 largest U.S. cities and their walking conducive environments and habits. The percentage of active walkers, the abundance of parks and the amount of people that walk to work are some of the factors that made these winning cities stand out."
#1 Portland, OR: Portland consistently ranked in the top 25 percent in each of the competition's criteria. With cool summers and relatively mild winters, walkers in Portland can hit the streets and trails year round.
The Best Walking Cities in America Competition is a project developed by the APMA to educate the public on the health benefits of walking and the important role that proper foot care plays in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
