This October, How We Develop’s debut event, CONTENT, will premier at the Ace Hotel in Portland, OR. This event is designed, in its curation of talent and selection of venue, to harness and highlight the individuality stemming from the independent fashion community.

For this inaugural CONTENT event, 38 of Portland’s finest independent clothing and accessory designers will inhabit 28 rooms on the 2nd floor of the Ace Hotel. Attendees will explore at their leisure while enjoying live music, libations, art installations and more, extending into the adjacent Cleaners event space.

A Deadbeat Summer

Swimming pools, beaches, thunderstorms, sunglasses, falling asleep in the park, and couch surfing across the states and back in a friend’s sister’s 1998 Honda with shoddy air conditioning. That’s what this mix is about. There’s still some good sunshine to be soaked up before the rains begin again. Maybe this one will last until then. Who knows. It’s only 27 minutes long.

Lecture at Oregon State, Pratt

Josh Berger, founder and creative director of Plazm, will be lecturing at Oregon State University @ Owen, room 106, 6:30 pm on March 5. The lecture is free and open to the public.

A second lecture will be held at Pratt on March 26th. More details to follow.

Look Around You

First of all, I’m about seven years behind the BBC on this one, but only a month behind Cartoon Network, so I figured it was worth a post for all of those out there, like me, without cable. Secondly, don’t read the rest of this until you have watched the video and learned your lesson of the day.

This mind-numbing masterpiece is the brainchild of British writers/comics Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz. It was first aired on BBC in 2002. The first season has since been picked up by Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Be forewarned: There are only 8 ten-minute “modules” in the first (and arguably best) season which is sure to leave you wanting more. The good news: each episode of season one can be viewed in full and free of charge on youtube.

Also, all of the synth music for the show was composed by Serafinowicz and Popper and, with the exception of the theme song, is available for download here as well as online quizzes, wallpapers, and supplemental video clips of season 2. Enjoy.
