This Saturday at noon Plazm Art Director Joshua Berger and co-editor Tiffany Lee Brown will be interviewed on OPB’s State of Wonder program with April Baer.

OPB will be having a love-fest this week in honor of Valentine’s Day. There are two other couples featured on the program, talking about balancing their work and their creative lives.

A discussion with Joshua Berger (Plazm/design), Mike Merrill (UrbanHonking), Jon Raymond (Plazm/screenwriting), Anmarie Trimble (Born magazine online), led by Tiffany Lee Brown (Plazm/New Oregon).

Culture, and the means of distribution and communication that spread it, have grown increasingly attached to and mediated by digital technology in the last couple decades. As we glide into yet another decade of social networking, global democratizing, and uploading cat videos to the interwebs, how has the ubiquity of technology changed us as individual humans and as a collective mass we can call “humanity?”

This discussion builds on the series of interviews that Tiffany conducted in Plazm #30 with seven experts in the field: Bruce Sterling, Nicholas Carr, Amber Case, Erik Davis, Kevin Kelly, Sherry Turkle, and Douglas Rushkoff. The resulting discussions touch on the printed word, ambihumanism, corporate consumer culture, nostalgia, cyborg anthropology, and, of course, Twitter.

Mildred Pierce set to launch on HBO

Plazm editor Jon Raymond co-wrote the teleplay with Todd Haynes for this upcoming HBO miniseries. The series received a warm reception in today’s NY Times. The five-part series begins to air next Sunday with parts one and two. Part three will be shown on April 3rd, and parts four and five on April 10th. Check it out!

Plazm’s Joshua Berger is part of a group show at Gallery Homeland. Artists include Calvin Ross Carl, Matt Carlson, Derek Franklin, Jeff Jahn, Nicole Lavelle, Victor Maldonado, Ben Rosenberg, Mandee Schroer, Daniel Sexton, and Heather Watkins. The run opens October 15, 2010 with a reception from 6-9pm and closes October 31.

From Gallery Homeland: Signed and number is a short run exhibition featuring some of Portland’s finest artists. Working outside the traditional realms of printmaking, this exhibition features rare and unseen prints by each artist.
