Playful. Creative. Fabulous.
Tiago Guedes takes the objects of daily modern life that are analytically stale and soulless and with them makes a place of happiness, magic and wonder.
It’s hopeful. And at one point he made the peace sign with his fingers (the only “word” in the performance, besides his name) and then later he laid in peace in his landscape that he had created in front of us.
It shows me that we make our own realities and that we can make for ourselves, fun and beauty and peace and tranquility with even the simplest things in our drawers.
He makes a hill and a river and some fluffy clouds and a couple trees reaching up to the sky and lies down on the ground and was well. All is well in my soul. And then there is more, he walks on water, swims underneath it without having to come up for breath, and crumples up all of the landscape into his arms. Wraps the ocean around him like an adorable chrysalis and writhers out.
It’s a radiant performance. This character unrolls tape with joy, loves watching his feet step heel to toe.
That’s what Tiago does.
It’s about peace … and fertility… and stuff. It’s happy and make’s you go “yay.” :)
