The first time I saw ACIE I was dazzled, taken up with watching and afterwards couldn’t think of what to say or what I thought or felt. My responses were along the lines of,”What was that? Is that a gold helmet? I want to look like they do in the body suits.” (I did overhear a man asking his companion if she would wear one. She stared back at him). I did know immediatly that it was beautiful to watch and the music reached inside me. Seeing the piece a second time opened up my experience. Meaning and feeling began to emerge. I watched the all sets of dancers – those projected and those on stage- dance together and apart. I began to understand how the distances created on stage reflected those that were always within me. Because all the artists who worked so seamlessly together and because of its deep intention, ACIE is a performance and installation that takes more than one viewing for it to really open up inside you.
