I feel silly that I did not initially see it from your/his angle. As a straight woman, this show reminded me of my perverse early twenties, and I found it kind of thrilling to remember that warped time. My gay buddy felt EXACTLY the same way you do, about the text in particular. That it’s 30 years behind, self-loathing, and therefore tiresome. (Only directorially, I should add, for we all enjoyed the kick-ass performance by the actors and the band.) I’m dying to know how the actors feel about the content.
