So you think that The Good, The Bad and The Ugly should have been edited down to 2 hours? What about Andrei Rublev? Inland Empire? The Godfather? Or Bella Tarr’s 7 hour masterpiece Satantango? There’s nothing sacred about the 120 minute mark and good directors use extended time frames structurally, making the length essential to the film’s form.
