Go! Don’t let the length scare you. Don’t let the thought of sitting so long be a factor – there are breaks in each half and a dinner break in between.
This is good reading and good theater. I went with the caveat that I could always not come back after dinner if I wanted to. But half-way through the first half, I knew I’d be back.
This is not merely someone very skillfully reading you a story and it is not an adapatation of the book. It is storytelling in the most effective way. The staging and acting is wonderful and it all blends together with the story as written, beautifully.
It’s a little journey — they take us there and bring us back and we know we have had a cultural experience which, as Kirsten wrote, leaves us “a little bigger in the heart.”
Bring an extra pillow for your tush (there are cushions on the seats, which are nice, some people may want a little more) and bring a blanket or fleece jacket for the first half; it’s chilly by design.
It truly is a not-to-be-missed experience. Come on, you know you want to. And if you don’t like it, you can skip out after dinner … though I don’t recommend it.
A very satisfactory literary-theatrical experience.
Ahhhhh
