I’ll take your word for it that they physically went into the audience in the second act. But I’d dispute the idea that reciting a the same pre-recorded line as yesterday into a particular spectator’s ear constitutes interaction.
That’s not to say the whole thing was a wash.
Where the show succeeded was in forcing us out of our expectations of what a story or a performance is “supposed” to look like. We weren’t afforded the luxury of tuning out. We had to pay attention.

I felt privileged to be part of the experience. NTO is making some amazing experimental theater. They are fresh and exciting and definitely a company to watch.
