I loved the distance and intimacy built into the staging, the distance and intimacy built into the interviews, the choices made here were deliberate. And “genuine” is the perfect word for this work, we’d been toying with “honest,” “sincere”…it’s just a relief that regardless of ironic content, the performance itself is delivered without a trace of wink or nudge.
