One more thing to add to your list of must sees!!!
She grew up with Tina Modotti, Frida Kahlo, and a whole crew of famous and infamous characters.
Lupe is an author, and arts advocate- with a special devotion to Mexican art (well, her father was Diego Rivera, so that makes sense!!).
Don’t miss it!!!
Go before you stop by the TBA Gala.
– Sept. 18th First Congregational Church 7pm.
– Sept, 19th St. Andrews 7pm (in Spanish)

I am writing this the day after seeing Daniel at his workshop. I thought he did a magnificent job at breakig down some barriers for people to speak musically from the heart and listen on a special level. I really appreciated how he began the workshop by constructing our names with some kind of body movement that you yourself come up with. I have been an improvising musician myself for almost 25 years and have yet to see such a simple way of communicating to cut through the superficial level. The only difficulty for me was personal and it might sound funny or kinda fucked up, but we’re all just humans here so here it goes! I look a lot like him, at one point down to having dreads just like him. For some reason our culture sets it up so there is an undeniable “competitive” jive that happens, perhaps he feels this too. But even with that, within a few minutes that evaporated. So, thanks to Daniel for such a lovely, human experience. I look foward to the next workshop!
