ritchey is right. i hate these hormone drugs women are expected to take. my new man is a doctor, and i had a chat with him about it and he agreed with me that they suck. condoms might be expensive and a bit of a pain in the ass… but at least they dont make you depressed, acne ridden, bloated, fat or naueseous.

Hm, well, I’ve never tried the nuvaring, but I can say that for me, I was on the pill for tons of years straight with zero side effects, and since I went off I get emo PMS and terrible, near-debilitating cramps unless I religiously pop the anti-inflammatories for 3-4 days every month. So for me, the hormonal birth control felt like a more manageable and stable situation, and the no-pill state feels like my body decides it hates me once a month. I’m not convinced it’s worth NOT being on it, frankly. Except that my insurance makes it a pain in the butt, so they win and I’m not bothering. Jerks.

I don’t know. I tried going on birth control once a few years ago, and stuck it out for 6 days (I know, I KNOW, you’re supposed to try for longer and get through the crap) but honestly, I was so out of control emotionally, in such a black hole of weepiness and paranoia and bad dreams that I finally said FUCK IT, I’ll use condoms, this isn’t worth it. Anyway, I don’t find condoms that inconvenient, and if they break you can always use emergency contraception.

I have never had a positive experience with birth control, except, you know, not getting pregnant.If you still feel like shit after 3 months, I would totally recommend changing birth control. You might have to lie and say you don’t get migraines,though. Just don’t try the rythm method, or “family planning method”, unless you really want to be depressed.This is turning into the Debbie Downer entry. But no one ever talks about this issue!
