G5 iMac iPhoto 6.02, OX 10.4.5 What a total bummer.

(Now I’m paranoid about losing my own! Aaahhh! If you are able to retrieve them, you must post your solution).
Bon Chance!

now i have been trying to be good and back up.
my friend Adam has no sympathy for files lost by people who do not back up. i guess that means that if one backs up and still looses files he would then feel sympathy.
i am sorry for your loss.

Have a safe trip.

to attempt to not get too geeky, basically every time *anything* writes to your hard drive (for example you browse the web or read your email), its all the more likely that a file will get plopped down on top of where your photos once were, and kinda still are.
when stuff is “deleted”, really the place they are on the hard drive is just marked “hey, you can put stuff here, mr. (or mz.) computer!”. then, eventually (read: soon), the computer will. in theory, if you run special software soon enough, it can find this un-attached filestuff.
in theory. and i dont know any recommended osx recovery software, but all/any of it would be hoping to save the day before too much other stuff got written on the disk.
if it all kinda disappeared all at once, like the directory (folder) got killed. this may make it even easier to resurrect, cuz if you can bring that folder back to life, most recovery software will then attempt to recover what was once in it. i think. blah blah blah… email me if whatever.
in other news, megan and solveig were in forest park today too. tinstacian magic!
p.s. some day we should talk about backup strategies. e.g. ‘rsync’ comes installed on osx and is really good for this.
