Must Be 18 To Play

Posted by: kmikeym | From: July 9, 2004

What a bunch of bullshit. LA is restricting access to cybercafe's to 18 years or older and imposing all kinds of complicated rules. This is all in response to a few instances of violence at gaming places (well, two murders).

I wonder if the shit-talkin' of 13 year old "l33t" gamers will diminish?

What is the average cybercafe goer like?
Are kids really that into this type of gaming?

There is a deep scene with these games. Kids get in and form tight groups (gangs) and play to WIN. Seems like a virtual gang is a lot better than a real one, even if the violence does occasional spill over into RL. There were some decent articles when the murders happened in the LA Times I think (but they have stoopid pay archives).
