Brothers In Arms
by j_john
Thursday night will see the end of one of the worst-attended movies in the history of the historic Hollywood Theatre, the John Kerry Vietnam documentary, Brothers In Arms. We have even canceled some shows, which has greatly surprised my coworker Dan and I who had initially anticipated huge crowds.
Perhaps people didn't appreciate the rather short length of the film (68 minutes). Maybe they just didn't hear enough about it (it's a small-time release). Or, more likely people are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of the political-themed docuementaries out right now (F 9/11, Outfoxed, Uncovered, The Hunting of the President, Bush's Brain, etc.).
However, I would like to believe that the main reason for the poor attendance is that people just don't have that many questions about Kerry's war record. As my dad (a lifelong Republican) said recently, "Kerry served, Bush observed." Who needs to watch a long promotional account of something everyone already knows about? So maybe the low attendance figures are a positive sign that people are already showing their support to Kerry. Is this just wishful thinking?
