"The Office" Season Finale

| | Comments (3)

Obviously, I'm psyched for the "Lost" finale. There will be a party, there will be themed foods, there will be much freaking out and pausing the DVR and speculation and making Zoe comb the message boards days later for revealing factoids.

Of course the finale for ANTM next week will be wicked. Unless Jade somehow gets crowned the queen of this season, which might make me give up on LIFE altogether. But mostly I'm sure the judges will come to their senses and confirm that Jade has been kept around for purely ratings reasons as the girl we love to hate, and she will get the supreme boot of Tyra and be sent away forever (or at least until the reunion show).

"American Idol," while I don't watch with fervor, but with more of a general interest in between other shows, will no doubt give up a good season finale. We will get a new star to love all the way until s/he finished singing the sappy song they make them sing at the end of the show and then we can commence with the hating or--more likely--the supreme indifference. (If there is one thing in this world that makes me feel like I'm on the power end of an abusive relationship, it's watching and caring about all these reality stars up until the second they win, after which they mean nothing to me. I'm a user and abuser.)

But I'm expecting strong finales from all these shows.

What I wasn't expecting was something heart-stopping from "The Office."

I love me some of that show, but I tend to forget what night it's on, and never really think of it if I happen to be doing something else with my Thursday nights. It sticks to its tragic formula, which I really love, and I was expecting the finale to slide into place amongst the other episodes. I completely fell for the trap, thinking Jim was going to come clean about thinking about the transfer. But holy balls!

The profession of love! The kiss! It completely bowled me over in a non-sitcom kinda way. It almost made me feel like the end of "Lost in Translation" made me feel--all good about life and love and longing.

Sigh.

Well done, "Office" writers.

I know! Awwww!! How can you not love those two? They are so friggin adorable.

And how much do I love my friend that I'm missing (ok, DVRing the hell out of) next Wednesday's TV nite to see her fancy poetry reading at the 92nd St. Y?

But I can't WAIT for theme food wrapped in Dharma Initiative labels. I am sincerely and utterly what one calls PSYCHED.

Office and Lost both rule my TiVo. Survivor and Amazing Race too. Lost is just incredible on TiVo, with the pausing and the rewinding and more pausing. Wednesday we must have paused and scrutinized that printout Locke held in the new hatch for about 10 minutes. And then we watched the new Dharma Initiative orientation tape about four times. I can't get enough of that show (this week's Entertainment Weekly has them on the cover).

The Office killed me too! I couldn't believe he told her he loved her and then went AGAIN to find her to kiss her!! I loved it so so much. So completely romantic.
