A Week in Pictures

God, it feels like I've been gone from here forever. Did ya miss me? I would love to give you a detailed report of everything, but I attended a prom party last night and my head, it is a little swimmy. I have a swimmy little head that may not be able to form the correct kind of complete sentences that maybe you'd like to read. Or maybe you've already taken off for Memorial Day weekend and you're not reading this until Tuesday, which is totally fine by me. Now we are both complicit in non-blog related things, how 'bout it.

So instead of a proper rundown of all activities fun, I thought I could do a brief photo montage. Everyone likes photos, right? Maybe you should imagine a good montage scene score running under the photos. Like, "I've Had the Time of My Life" or...okay, that's the only one I can think of right now. There must be other montage songs more appropriate to the vacation pics from my mom's visit. Swimmy head.

First! We took a chocolate baking class and made all these things:

I know, can you believe all this food? I took it all home and J's head promptly exploded. The next morning we took a lovely drive up to Great Barrington to visit Heather, Joey, and Alana. If you haven't been to Great Barrington, you should consider taking a little trip up there. It's not far from New York, and it is a complete vacation for all your overstimulated senses. You go on lots of walks there and they have little scenes like this EVERYWHERE!

And they're not even trying to be ironic or anything. Heather was telling me about a cute nearby town and said, "It's really pretty, very Norman Rockwellesque. It's actually where Norman Rockwell is from." They also have a little diner called The Roadside that has the best breakfasts anyone ever imagined. Check out my blueberry banana pancake...jealous?

I got my mom intrigued about competitive eating and it just so happened there was a pickle eating event right where we were going to be on Wednesday. Okay, we totally planned the day around the pickles, but we WERE going to be in the area, so it just happened to work out nice. It wasn't an IFOCE event, so I didn't know anyone there except Krazy Kevin, but it was nice to see a fresh batch of gurgitators.

I heart pickles

Do you sense a food theme? Where do you think I got my love of food from? My trips with my mom always end up being about a lot of food. But that's the way we like it. We also saw a play (Shining City) and a movie (Art School Confidential). Wednesday was also Lost finale night, and you know how I feel about themed foods:

Nothing is black and white...except the cookie

Zoe's Dharma Krispie Treats

I'm leaving for St. Marys, Ohio in a few hours and am actually pretty excited to keep this vacation vibe going into the weekend. Even though I'll be in Ohio, which isn't usually in your top ten destination spots. In case you weren't around for my last St. Marys trip, now would be the time to check out the town's website.

Many things chocolate, sweet ambling landscape, fruit-chocked pancakes. You have blown my mind with everything perfect!

Where is this Great Barrington, exactly, and do trains go there!?!?

Tell the Great Barrington crowd hi for me. We can never seem to get ahold of each other. Also, it might be worth noting that the pancake in your photo is the "small" size.

I am in love with that pancake.

I may have just temporarily passed out at the sight of all that chocolate. *sigh*

This is totally random... I found your (old) blog doing a Google image search of Rene Zellweger (some guy in a bar told me I looked like her and, never having seen it myself, I wanted to take another peek...). One of the first hits was your former home (apparently back in 2004 you linked to a pic of RZ...).

At any rate, I got to reading and ventured over here. You have a great site, and your baking looks divine.

I, too, have a blog but am looking to relocate. In the meantime, if you're curious, click on the link...
