This entry should be about

Posted by: Liz | From: August 02, 2004

This entry should be about how Krista, Chad, and I floated luxuriously down a river and got tan and stayed in a hotel and ate nice meals. But weather reports with rumors or rain steered us astray and we ended up not going tubing at all. During the hottest, most humid weekend there ever was. In fact, I managed to do the opposite of drifting without care down a chilly stream of water: I went to the new Target.

Mother of god was that a bad idea. Don’t get me wrong: I love Target. Whenever I go back to Denver, I always visit the sprawling, air-conditioned warehouse of cheapness…there is no place better for yoga pants, 3-packs of panties, cheap housewares. But this Brooklyn store? A monstrosity. Simply by virtue of its location. Big store like this are literally attacked by hoards of aggressive, New Yorker shoppers out for a bargain, and the resulting store is one jam packed with people, run by indifferent sales associates, and totally picked over. I don’t think we helped matters by walking there. In the greenhouse that was Park Slope yesterday. The only good that came of the walk was that J got the “Freaks and Geeks” DVD collection, which totally made my day (although that was from Circuit City). Friday night. Always a good time for some Sabbath.

We also escaped into an arctic movie theater to watch “The Village” before all the parodies and reviewers ruined the twisty ending. Don’t worry, I’ll restrain myself for you. Ghost village.

Also, I encourage you to visit the new links up on the side over there. Funny southern girls who put endearing question marks in the middle of their sentences, do fun games on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and whip out things like this. They are addicting little writers.

Also: cats! And beets! Mmmm, beets.
