What About The USA?

From Cyber Dissent In China:

There is a force of some 40,000 people who work to monitor the online activity of China. Tactics include IP Blocking, DNS Filtering and redirection, Packet Filtering, Connection Resets, Web Feed Blocking, and Reverse Surveillance.

The Golden Shield Project compiles all the information about citizens and they are tracked by their ID cards (must use these to log on at internet cafes), when the police look you up they get all personal and work information as well as the last 10 sites you visited.

Someone asked an interesting question: Why do we think for a second that the same kind of thing isn't happening right here in the Good Old U S of A?
