Sweet Fiber

Recently I've been excited about the idea of the City building a fiber-optic network, but it looks like the City Council would rather see a public-private partnership than take on the job themselves.

I don't have much faith in public-private partnerships after the terrible implementation of the Portland City wifi nodes by MetroFi. The city seems to continue to try to spin the terrible service into a success story, but it's plain to anyone toting a laptop around that MetroFi nodes are a failure.
