Pecha Kucha @ ACE Cleaners
Last night I gave a short talk at Portland's first Pecha Kucha. While the name is dumb, the idea is pretty good. You get twenty slides and have only twenty seconds per slide to talk. The transitions are automatic and not fancy. This means even if someone gives a terrible talk, it's short and pretty painless. Overall I thought the event went pretty well. All the presenters were doing this style talk for the first time, so from that angle things were a little rocky, but I think now that we've seen other people do it, it will be much easier.
I got really nervous! It's been a long time since I've been up in front of strangers and I think the last time was sort of a disaster on my part. There was one point where people started laughing and I got a little freaked out, but then I looked at the slide and remembered I had put a little joke in there! I think my talk went over pretty well and I got to talk with Scott Wayne Indiana for a while and it's always great to hear Brian Libby speak.
It got me thinking about UrHo Talks #2, and how we should maybe steal this concept...
