Matthew – Thanks! Yeah, I was excited to try out Songbird for a long time. The promise of a programmable media player was extremely alluring, but whenever I’d download the betas (every six months or so), I had a similar experience to what you’re describing. A couple of weeks back, I ran into some of the guys on the Songbird team at RailsConf and they swore up and down that this 0.6 release was a major stability turning point. I tried it out after the conference and lo and behold, it runs pretty darn solidly. Since then, all my pent up hacking energy for Songbird has come bursting out and I’ve been working with it nearly non-stop.

This is a really good introduction! I remember hearing about Songbird a while back. But it kept crashing on me (I think it was like an alpha release or something). Thanks for putting this together.
