I am very new to this and cant figure it out. I can make the text box and the post button but what next? Do I just need to get this mt-comments.cgi file?

The Hello Kitty blog uses Blosxom according to Rael Dornfest, B Blosxom’s creator. But, seriously, a good place to start is the Blosxom site itself, which is, of course, built on the application and contains lots of useful tutorials to help with installing and configuring your blog.
Blosxom’s the easiest blogging system out there that you can administer yourself, so that should be more than enough to get you started.

And I need to know if there is any URL that I can use as an example.

There’s a good tutorial at the Unofficial Blosxom User’s Group here.

To change the date on a file, you need “shell” access to the server (via telnet or ssh). Then you can use the “touch” command (the exact options vary from OS to OS) to change the date. For example, on my home server (MacOSX), I could use “touch -t 200501011200.00 filename” to change the date to Jan 1st (midday).
Thanks for writing this tutorial – I have a rough setup in blojsom and was wondering if blosxom would be better….
