HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBIN! On the 30th of August, Robin Rosenberg was born and the world of entertaining has never been the same. Case in point: the birthday celebration on the 1st which centered around a nacho cook-off/contest. Four categories - 1) Classic Nachos, 2) World-Beat Nachos (such as...chinese, italian, indian, etc...), 3) KrAzy Nachos (such as...breakfast, pizza, etc...), 4) Local, Seasonal and Sustainable Nachos. And at six o'clock, people started showing up and the game was on.

With beer and wine in the back-yard, the kitchen and laundry room became a staging area for all sorts of culinary Olympians. Some of the favorites presented were a popcorn and "hot-tamale" nacho, a Korean nacho with shrimp toast and sesame beef, a hand made tortilla and local products for the sustainable category, a southern style nacho with fried chicken and country gravy, and a desert nacho which looked exactly like real, traditional nachos. Also worth mentioning were a hot dog nacho, a reuben nacho and a nacho that spelled happy birthday Robin.

There are some flicker pics here.

I hate to be a poser but I'm totally stealing this idea the next time I host a get-together. Great idea! I wish I could have crashed that party... yummy.
