Welcome to UrHo! I think this is a great blog entry and you are having fun. I remember coming to Portland for MY freshman year of college, which was in the year 1995, when you probably weren’t even born yet (math is not my strong suit). You are better placed than we were, though, because you are downtown and I was way out in Tigard. Portland is the greatest city in the world.
– Reading Frenzy (right by Powells)
– Thai Peacock (right by Powells)
– I briefly lived on NW 21st and there is this legit coffee house called Anna Bananas that’s way down far on that street. Go there!
– the food carts on like 10th I think
– Rad Summer: badass vintage clothing and record store on Burnside in SE, run by UrHo friend
– once you are 21 you can go to all the amazing 2nd-run theaters in town and get beer and pizza and watch old movies! Laurelhurst, Bagdhad, the Mission is the one closest to where you live. These theaters are sometimes the thing I miss most about Portland. It is shocking that all cities don’t have them.
– so much other stuff
– go jogging on the waterfront
– go watch the swallows fly into that crazy chimney by Food Front
