Inscription sur les listes/ Getting registered to vote
by joon
I can't believe after everything that had happened in France in the last two years (strikes and riots) and even since our last election ( pretty scary) that "youth" has a hard time gettting registered to vote. In France, you have to register on the list before December 31st. If you do not want to vote in may but you are registered, well at least you have a choice. But not registering is a way of saying : "we give up".
Registering when living abroad is complicated. Well, wait, no, it seems more complicated at first but the only thing you have to do is taking 10 minutes at the most to go on the consulat website and it is done. I am one of the person to do things at the last minute but I want to be able to complain and whine if I am not happy with the results and without feeling bad because I didn't try. Especially after what happenned at the last elections.
For French Portlanders, be ready to vote, because the government will have a place in Portland for us, oregonian and Idaho residents to vote. It will be on April 21st and May 5th, one day before France.
