mom got a free range turkey, I stuffed it, our cousins, russian family and neighbors ate with us, kids hung out watching cartoons in the basement, and dad again wore the pilgrim hat.

while stuffing your face with turkey did you not find it a little disconcerting having an effigy of an actual turkey looking you in the eye?
hason responds:
the effigy actually is a tureen containing special turkish lentil soup (mercimek), and I had far more of it than the turkey. I am not a big eater of birds.
