< state fair >

are you somehow in town (portland, for you faraway readers of the blog) and have nothing to do this long holiday weekend? I suggest a quick drive to salem and a visit to the fair.

goats wearing goofy outfits! (to keep them clean before judging) I love a goat.

check out the horse pavilion, super contrast-y photo booths, livestock, and especially the 4-H and expo pavilions. If you avoid the madness of the demo/selling pavilion these areas are so much mellower than the carnival area and showcase the many talents of oregonians like table setting, quilting, baking, and seed grass growing. I was impressed and humbled.

don't forget finger puppets for your friend's kids

pickle n jam contests! next year claire and I will enter our "hot n sweet apocalypse radishes"

presented by...whaaaa? enjoy the weekend! oregon state fair's last day is monday....

I used to win first place and best of show at the county fair every year for challah, pound cake, and/or chocolate covered cherries.
Also my grandma often wins best of show at the California State Fair for her weaving.

Those goats are so funny and cute. I am sorely tempted by this plethora of oregonian talent.

A shame we just now crossed paths. I was at the fair all weekend! yes indeed, there for the last 4 days, what a sight to see. There was such an abundance of people watching to be had and i photographed as much of it as i could. Hopefully i'll be posting some tasty morsels in the next week or so, but until then you can have a sampling of some of the other fine festivities i shot here in the glorious NW: earthsworld.com is the key.
Oh, and i arrived here by way of Valentines.
