the one unrenounced tradition
mom shows her magic stash of homemade xmas cookies that live in the garage. in midwestern wintertimes the garage becomes the second fridge (or third, if, as a true midwesterner, you already have a 2nd fridge in the garage for beer and pop). women drive between illinois and michigan to prepare the ritual cookies together and then separate them into master tins. the empty tins themselves are procured and circulate in various arcane ways.
cookie tins are assembled with selections from all the master tins, this is but a small excerpt.
gingerbread snowflakes are creeping up on peppermint-topped shortbread and the choco cherry dots for my favorites of this year.
