in honor of the camry cracking 100k, feburary will be ALL MUSIC MONTH! That's right, my faithful lurkers, I am shuffling through photo stacks and digging in the guts of the harddrive to post a band or musician every day here at dokuchan. If you have a request, please let me know. though I'm not effin spin magazine so keep it within reason.
You might not know this but I am a real nerd. Oftentimes I will leave the hip, happening club/concert/bar to go home and read my book. Or I will have the best of intentions but never manage to leave the house in the first place. I spend way too much time looking in my huge dictionary, and I get excited about many terminally uncool things. Since I seldom drink there's not much reason to out to bars, unless there is a band or pinball or something. But last night I actually went out.

there was a birthday party for allison

jen has lost her keys so many times that now they are attached to a large baby.

yesterday was a very hectic day. after work I went to get my art on. the first party was packed

second art party was packed as well, but I only took these two pictures. I was getting a little overstimulated at that point, but I stuck it out, if only for the chickens you could draw.

then it was back down the hill for the third parctice/first ever fortune's vine show. They played a tsunami benefit that had a fashion show so everybody was all decked out, in that witchy-and-corsets way I outgrew in 1991. But whatevs. La Fortuna was not in costume.

then it was time to head back home, glad that I had finally made it out.

this is misty mcelroy, portland hometown hero, the founder of the rock and roll camp for girls.
the camp is a major training base for project Hope For The Future (in my personal cosmology).
i'm working on a photo book about the camp, and at some point there will be a whole month of camp photos here on dokuchan.

connie breaks it down, brutal style.

but I would surely die in the attempt...I think that's why they put up the fence.

i took these this morning.

japan is crazy safe

this is a busy street corner in hiroshima, three blocks from the train station. the bike lock is just to say dudes know where they left their manbags, so don't take them to the lost&found.

so it's true, this sultry warm front lurking is straight from the central pacific.

right? so this weekend was the 24 hr ice storm, everyone stayed home and watched movies...

then suddenly monday evening, in a matter of six hours, it went from half melted ice to balmy island style weather. and stayed.

crazy. it's like 62 degrees outside.

now we are back to normal, where kids scrawl graffiti on lenin statues...
I think this is in Budapest. Hungary has some awesomely bad graffiti.

nigella aka love in the mist

season of the local kiwi as well, apparently.

so luminous and delicious. you to have to scrub the fur off first. prickly little hairs.

sometimes when things really suck it's best to look for the everyday magic
to actually pay attention.
infinity sublimity all around, and we blind to it on account of our petty concerns.

so I talked to mom today, she said they already had four inches, and were expecting up to six more tonight.
seems like every time I go back to visit, all I do is shovel the driveway.

right now, making this blog is like doing pirate radio. I have no idea how many people are checking it out, and since I still haven't changed any of the defaults, there's no site counter. Ignorance is bliss. But thanks to SF/J for making me a link, I am honored.

heard of that hobbit hip hop band, Lord Of The Rhymes? This was Gandalf's magic pony, now residing in Miho's apartment.

only in SoCal yo, only in SoCal (I hope).

let's not be afraid to experiment

let's not be afraid to love
