Traditional English Breakfast
By from October 13, 2005

I recently watched one of my favorite films the other night, and noticed people scarfing down English breakfasts with pure delight. The same day Mike sent me this story and I couldn't stand it anymore--I had such a craving for "the traditional" and it needed to be taken care of. Instead of waiting for the weekend fare at the Horse Brass I decided to make it myself.
A quick stop at Fred's took care of the main ingredients, and a special trip to
World Market (for the indispensable HP sauce) and I was ready....and wow, did it taste better than expected. I rarely cook meat--but the Foreman took care of the sausages, and the potatoes were made a bit special with onions and rosemary. Perhaps I should have tried to make fried bread, but I am quite pleased with this first attempt. Now all I need to do is watch some association football and I'll be reliving those London glory days.

These are good suggestions, but I didn't want to do too much--sausages were enough meat, and I couldn't really remember having mushrooms over there. I don't really like that pudding stuff. Pretty much the flavor I wanted was a bunch of not healthy food with the strong aroma of baked beans and the unforgettable flavor of HP sauce.
Mission Accomplished :)

In the two years I've lived in England I've never worked up enough nerve to try black pudding. Everyone says it's nice, but the idea is just too repulsive.
Mushrooms are definitely a staple of the fryup up north! Gotta mix a little more fibre in with all the fats.

That looks delicious. It's also really good with stewed tomatoes. The juices blend in with the baked beans really nicely. yum.

johnson! that breakfast looks so epic. Plus, that drum mug was given to Jona by my mother, I think. What a nice picture.

Whack a hash brown with that and fry the eggs. I prefer hard. not runny eggs. mmmmmmmmmmm! YAH!
