Marisa Meltzer and J. John Afryl recently checked out one of Portland's great new restaurants, clarklewis. The following is an ichat transcript discussing their evening.

Wow.
I really like this entry and format. Really engaging and awesome.
I have known John for many years and I don't think I have had a conversation like this with him. SO GOOD. Not that John isn't good at conversation, this is just real good.
Where is clarklewis?
Feeding each other? Very awesome.

J.John, Josh and I went here the other night for the first time, and the whole experience was just great. They have nice bike parking in the back, lovely low lighting, attentive service and, most importantly, great food.

Our full report: the famed fennel fritto with garlic aioli; belgian endive with lemon cream dressing and olives; seared scallops on a fennel coleslaw; lamb and pea ragout on fresh fettuccine; some kind of pasta I don't know with broccoli rapini, lemon and parmesan cheese; beef ribs with asparagus; halibut with morel butter; and tart cherry cake with cream cheese ice cream.

The only down side was that the halibut was slightly overcooked, but the amazing morel butter pretty nearly cancelled that out.

Damn, I'm making myself hungry again!
