FINI aka MO GETS HER LIFE BACK

FROM April 2, 2008

The New York Underground Film Festival starts—and ends—this week. Read original director Ed Park on the fest in the Voice this week, and congratulations to festival director Mo Johnston aka my roommate for running things in both the actual and swaggergorical sense. I have seen her waste away each year, dedicating every waking hour to this thing, and wearing like, the same clothes two to six days in a row. I have not seen her for weeks on end except for when I made afterhours appointments with her at that German bar with the good Riesling outside the NYUFF office. I have served on the screening committee and witnessed firsthand the good, the bad, and the confoundingly awesome entries people submit (Bella stand up!) Good job, Mo, you're a Georgia peach with a little Jasmine and Freesia or whatever. Everyone should go this week! Here is the site and schedule (and Ben Coonley's TRAILER FEATURING MR. Z of the SUBWAY ADS - aka the TOLOGIST with the derma, shout to Mr. Z, Smoothe da Hustler and Jon Caramanica.
