exo reminds us: the untold story of emmett louis till opens wide in american cities tomorrow. nyc: it's playing at the magic johnson 9 lowes in harlem. you know the story: emmett till, 14-yr-old black kid from chicago, horribly beaten and shot to death by two white men for allegedly whistling at/talking to a white woman in jim crow mississippi. his killers were acquitted by an all-white jury; the murder helped jumpstart what would become the civil rights movement. this very documentary prompted the justice dept. to reopen the case last year.
