BROWN JESUS

Seen at Guanabee: The Latino Jesus statue is long overdue, considering we (and our offspring) keep the Catholics in business, not to mention our ancestors gave up our mom-goddess Tonantzin to avoid getting their heads lopped off by the Spaniards. But I gotta say, it ain't inventing the wheel... my grandma had a two and a half foot-tall brown St. Jude statue on the altar in her dining room, which, PS, I inherited when she died. It is now somewhere in the basement of my mother's house.

My altar currently features a picture of Ezra in the Frida Kahlo-themed hotel from his Mexican vacation, and a small stuffed Donald Duck wearing a sombrero, gifted to me from my guero ex-boyfriend. Ay! Assimilation.
