You know, I was always unsure how bad it could possible be, but having hung with you, Ms Shep, on many an occasion, you are 100% in the right. I remember many a jilted stare, condescending pitch courtesy of bitter band/PR/label dude and even some jackass that violently forced a CD on you at the Kills show. Since then, I have hung with many a music writer dude, of all whom have written much more offensive things, and not one has gone through what you did. For reals.

Maybe it’s dumb to say because we KNOW this, but there is this incredible conservative media machine/juggarnaut that affects everything, even our perceptions of people whose side we actually are on. This is why I favor pie-throwing–it seems to be gender/party neutral. Consider: throwing a pie at Barbara Boxer would make you look cataclysmically stupid–she would probably come out of the situation with grace and humor, as usual; throwing a pie at Ann Coulter would achieve its purpose–she would have a pie in her face and you would be celebrated.
