quips, lists, points, and the essay

PAZZ & JOP 2005, up and motorin' like the computer in the Hatch, HERE IS JESSICA'S POST ABOUT BOTH OF OUR ESSAY-TYPE THINGS GETTING PUBLISHED THIS YEAR! In the Voice! Pazz and JOP! Comment from my dad: "Cool! (Cool about your writing, that is. I don't like hard rap)," italics mine. I envision mi padre flipping thru the satellite radio in his WYO-centric Dodge Ram extendo cab, stopping the dial on "Lite Jamz n Oldiez" and going, "HO, SHIT! 'IESHA,' I LOVE ANOTHER BAD CREATION." But alas, my dad does not blaze-gunz in capital letters like that--it's a trait I developed on my own. Nevertheless, it is cool when your parents think you are cool and say so.

And J.Hova's right, check for Rob Sheffield and for Jon Dolan's comments all over, Dolan's the smartest and funniest, I ain't just saying that cauze right now some shit i wrote is in his editor's hands neither, pls go easy dolan, i am just a little baby bird with baby toes, killer cuban motion and a nasty slang habit.

Back to Pazz and Jop. Perhaps you would like some champagne as you read all the commentary about Kanye? A nice merlot? What's that? You've been sober since '86, after a full litre of Cisco (it was legal back then) inspired you to evil-kneivel-leap yr American flag-motif'd Dart across God's great chasm, the marvelous gape of earth we call Grand Canyon? Knowing, simply knowing your impenetrable faith would carry you to the other side?

Mais oui. Perhaps, then, you will prefer the TRAILER for the "Touch the Sky" video. YES, the trailer. For the video. I hope xgau is right and dude falls in love with someone besides himself, stat. Perhaps he will fall in love with Chris Milk.

Belated congrats on the Suicide Girl piece in SPIN, as well as your essay in the Voice.
